91' Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 EVO II 1/10 On-Road Racing Kit
Few touring cars command the same respect as the 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II — a machine born from DTM homologation requirements and refined into one of the decade's most celebrated racing icons. Now faithfully recreated in 1/10 scale, this kit pairs an aggressive, wide-body polycarbonate shell with Tamiya's proven TT-02 platform and a ready-to-run electronics package for a compelling on-road build.
The Body
The clear, untrimmed polycarbonate shell captures the Evo II's signature wide-body stance, purpose-built for aerodynamic efficiency and downforce. Stickers and window masking are included to guide the painting process, letting builders replicate the car's iconic touring car livery. The original road car was powered by a 2.5-liter 16-valve Cosworth engine and featured an advanced 5-link self-leveling suspension — with only 502 street units ever produced, the Evo II remains one of the most collectible and recognizable nameplates from 1990s motorsport.
TT-02 Performance Chassis
Underpinning the build is Tamiya's versatile shaft-driven 4WD TT-02 chassis, configured with a longitudinal layout that positions the battery on the left and motor on the right for a well-balanced weight distribution. Matching left and right suspension arms and uprights simplify assembly, while the easily serviceable gearboxes keep maintenance straightforward. The chassis supports two wheelbase settings, two ground clearance options, two tread configurations, and ten available gear ratios — offering a wide range of tuning flexibility. Fully independent double wishbone suspension and grease-filled differentials round out the performance foundation, while brake disc-style wheel hubs, gun metal 10-spoke wheels, and slick tires give the build a sharp, race-ready look.
Electronics Package
This kit ships with both a Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 brushed ESC and a Mabuchi RS-540 Torque-Tuned motor. The 1060 ESC delivers strong current endurance, a built-in capacitor module for consistent power delivery, IP-67 waterproofing, and easy parameter configuration via ESC jumpers with automatic throttle range calibration. Paired with the RS-540's higher top-end speed and improved acceleration characteristics, this combination provides a solid performance baseline straight out of the box.
